What does music sensation Lizzo have to do with 19th century French impressionism? A lot!!

In this four-week class, we will discuss the abundant representations of the female form and beauty in the works of Pierre-Auguste Renoir and his contemporaries, and we will discover how their revolutionary styles ushered in the dawn of modern art. To connect us to the present, we will draw on Lizzo and the unwavering body positive themes in her music and style.  From her lyrics to her photos, her expression of beauty is deeply rooted in a rich artistic tradition going back centuries.

This class will consist of three classroom sessions, and for the final session, we will at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth to view Renoir: The Body, The Senses.  Registration price includes museum ticket. The Kimbell Art Museum is located at:

3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard
